Our Squads

We all want kids to enjoy their early competitive experience in swimming as this will help promote life-long participation. This means competing in a fun and relaxed environment over a range of strokes and short distances with their friends.

These competitions are short and without disqualifications, giving swimmers and their families the opportunities to learn swimming rules, familiarise themselves with meet conditions and how a meet is run in an open and educational environment.

Kids (under 10 yrs)

As swimmers get a little older, they are introduced to  longer distance events whilst maintaining the relaxed and informal environment. It’s about the joy of racing and competing against other athletes.

These competitions continue the development of skills and understanding for swimmers and parents alike through more race starts. The focus is on fun and enjoyment of personal improvement over winning, promoted by the knowledge of results, and social engagement.

Pre-Teen (11-12 yrs)

From 13 onwards, competition is guided by the Australian Swimming Framework (ASF).

Swimmers have the opportunity to gain experience competing in a range of strokes and events. We want to promote life-long participation and maintain the social engagement of athletes through club, team and community. Dapto Swimming Club swimmers compete against others in formats that replicate national and international competitions for improved practice effect, with support to further develop personal excellence in and out of the pool.

Multi Class (MC) swimming is a form of competition designed specifically for swimmers with disability. MC events are normal swimming events with some minor modifications to the rules and regulations. In order to compete in MC events swimmers must have an eligible classification. MC events see swimmers with a range of disabilities, from multiple classifications competing in the same race.
